Reveal trailer
Rocksteady unveiled the first trailer for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League as part of DC FanDome, August 22, 2020. It opens with a glimpse at Brainiac’s lair before confirming that the game is in Metropolis. Scrolling down, we see Harley Quinn and her Task Force X colleagues Deadshot, Captain Boomerang, and King Shark.
Amanda Waller, Suicide Squad’s instigator, talks to Quinn over comms, telling them to go to the Metropolis Grand Hotel to meet their “alpha target”. Quinn needs to engage. After a montage where the group takes on hordes of Brainiac’s army – to OutKast’s B.O.B – Bombs Over Baghdad – they reconverge on a roof. Quinn then tries his best to remember who they should be looking for until Quinn is suddenly interrupted by an explosive helicopter.
As the smoke clears, it appears that Superman has saved the helicopter pilot – only to decimate the human moments later via heat vision, while seemingly under the control of Brainiac. The group quickly realizes that the Man of Steel has become their “alpha target”. The trailer ends with Superman being hit by a boomerang, which comically hits his head. Captain Boomerang then utters: “You shouldn’t have done that shark!” It’s available below:
Suicide Squad – Kill the Justice League storyline & setting
Details about Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League’s campaign are currently limited. It’s a continuation of Batman: Arkham-verse, which Rocksteady created in his Batman: Arkham series. We do know it’s an “original story” set in DC.
The Suicide Squad game picks up sometime after the events of Batman: Arkham Knight and sees Amanda Waller (AKA “The Wall”) putting together a task force of Arkham inmates, known as the Suicide Squad. Their goal is to carry out a covert mission to Metropolis. Waller injects lethal explosives in the heads of the inmates. Encourage They are invited to join the train.
The ragtag team quickly discovers that Brainiac has attempted to invade the planet. He also brainwashed the Justice League (including Superman, Batman, Green Lantern) in an attempt to do this. The Suicide Squad must track down every brainwashed Justice League member to save the planet and eliminate them.
Rocksteady’s Suicide Squad will use Metropolis as its open world. The city is best known for being the home of Superman. It draws inspiration both from New York City and Toronto while also being close to Gotham. Sefton Hills, Creative Director of DC FanDome described Metropolis to be the game’s fifth character and said it was a “love letter” to DC fans.
We expect the majority Justice League members to appear in Kill the Justice League. This includes Aquaman, Wonder Woman, and others. The Game Awards trailer confirmed Batman will make an appearance. This is certainly interesting, considering how Batman: Arkham Knight ended.
Hill spoke on the panel about the narrative connections that will continue from Arkham Series. He stated that there are “a lot of through threads, storylines that you’re going to see come to fruition here”.
Suicide Squad – Kill the Justice League
We have only seen snippets so far of Suicide Squad Kill the Justice League’s gameplay, but we do have solid details.
It’s set in a open-world portrayion of Metropolis. We hope it’ll feel almost like Rocksteady’s Arkham City. This open-world approach should allow for plenty of exploration, and we hope there are plenty Easter Eggs (like Arkham City).
We also know that the game can be played solo or multiplayer. Solo players can switch between the members of their squad at will. AI will handle the uncontrolled members of your team.
If you want friends to join you, they can jump into the shoes of the squad members you don’t want, with up to four players able to play at once. Rocksteady says that this co-op mode will provide seamless gameplay. It will also allow players to drop in and out of the game at any time. You can play with friends one minute, and go solo the next. This will not impact your game.
You’ll have four playable characters to choose from, each with their own “unique moveset” and “enhanced traversal abilities”: Harley Quinn, King Shark, and Captain Boomerang. We have not been able to identify the exact moves and abilities of these characters, but we were able see their unique playstyles in the gameplay trailer at The Game Awards 2021.
From We saw that Harley is agile, can land powerful melee attack and has a grappling hook in the arsenal. King Shark is all brute force, but can whip out an agatling gun when he requires it. Deadshot lends firepower to our group (capable for both sniping as well as aerial assaults). Captain Boomerang is a fast runner, and his boomerang can take out ranged enemies like you would expect.
Suicide Squad: Kill Justice League news and gossip
Kevin Conroy is Batman
Kevin Conroy, the late voice of Batman, has been confirmed as the voice for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. Conroy voiced Batman in all Arkham games and in Batman: The Animated Series. He also appeared in various movies. It is therefore heartening to see him able to lend his voice for Rocksteady’s latest.

There are no more characters
It looks like Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League won’t be expanding its roster of playable characters beyond the four that have already been confirmed.
As reported by PCGamesN (opens new tab), a press release for the game states that “the game’s original narrative follows the four Suicide Squad members as they take on an impossible mission to save Earth and kill the World’s Greatest DC Super Heroes,” which strongly suggests no more will be added. This definitely casts doubt on previous rumors that the game will be an evolving live service title in the style of Marvel’s Avengers.
Warner Bros Interactive is attempting to offer live service?
A spotted advertisement for a January 2021 internship (via) IGN (opens new tab)), Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment’s upcoming projects are going to have a “heavy focus on live service”.
There’s a section of the Advertisement (opens new tab) that states that “WBIE is currently involved in a variety of new projects, ranging from casual games to core games featuring our well-known franchises on all platforms (console, digital, mobile) with a heavy focus on live service. “
Generally, live service elements within a game will be updated by their developer after release with new features or storylines. It’s not uncommon in games these days and can be effective when done right but it can also be controversial when a game doesn’t get off to a strong start eg. Marvel’s Avengers.
Although Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League isn’t referred to directly here, it is one of the games that Warner Bros will be publishing in the next couple of years. However, Rocksteady hasn’t actually confirmed that there will be any live service elements in Kill the Justice League, so at the moment we can’t be sure if they have any involvement in Kill the Justice League.
Gotham Knights doesn’t involve games-as-a-service elements, which means that there’s no guarantee Every This will apply to all Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment games. Certainly, we haven’t seen any clear evidence that Suicide Squad will include live service elements and as result, we’re going to need to wait for official confirmation from Rocksteady before we can be sure.
Mugshots
In December 2020, the official Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League Twitter account shared some great mugshots featuring the game’s characters. The Harley Quinn one is our favorite, which you can see in the following:

Voice actors
Two of the four Suicide Squad members are confirmed. Tara Strong, a long-time Harley Quinn voice actor, will reprise the role. King Shark will be voiced, however, by Nuufolau Joel Seanoa, a.k.a. WWE wrestler. Samoa Joe.
There is no official word on Captain Boomerang’s voice but it is highly rumored that Chris Parson has been offered the role. He Junkrat was previously voiced in Overwatch, and there is a striking resemblance when you listen to the two.
It is more difficult to identify Deadshot. Chris Cox has previously voiced the one-shot wonder of Arkham City and Arkham Origins. Both are set in the same universe. The Floyd Lawton version of Deadshot has been confirmed, but there is a big flaw that it doesn’t appear to be Cox who’s returning.
For one, the audio clip sounds nothing like his version, and two – the most damming – this Deadshot is black, as opposed to the white version Cox portrayed. Many believe that it is an up-and coming voice without an established voice. King Shark was killed in direct-to-video Assault on Arkham. The question of what constitutes ‘canon’ remains open.
Debra Wilson has been confirmed to voice Amanda Waller, outside of the Suicide Squad. Wilson was previously the voice of Waller in Batman: The Enemy Within.
