A Russian frigate armed with “unstoppable” hypersonic Zircon missiles is staging war games as it sails for Britain.

Footage shows the Admiral Gorshkov warship, carrying one of the world’s deadliest weapons, “repelling airstrikes from a simulated enemy” in stormy conditions in the Norwegian Sea, six days after the mission to challenge the West .

The vessel is armed with new nuclear-capable Mach 9 Zircon missiles, which travel at speeds of nearly 7,000 mph, as well as Kalibr missiles.

The warship is sailing towards Britain and images released today show the ship taking part in a military exercise. The video on Zvezda TV did not include the launch of any missiles during the drills.

“The purpose of the exercise was to test the operation of the air defense circuit, its systems, aerial and electronic lighting systems, anti-aircraft fire systems, tactical camouflage electronic warfare systems, and air defense circuit control systems,” said the commentary.

The tasks were ‘accomplished’, the channel said. “The ship is ready to repel air attacks from different altitudes and directions.”

The Gorshkov, which is on its first deployment, set sail from Severomorsk last week and will stop by Britain ahead of the Mediterranean war games, but Moscow has yet to reveal the exact schedules or route for the warship.

Putin, as he previously stated, the missiles “have no equivalent in the world” and their arrival comes at a much-needed time for Russia after multiple setbacks in Ukraine, with almost 3,000 soldiers lost this year.

After setting sail on its maiden deployment last week, the ship immediately fired a test launch of the state-of-the-art nuclear-capable Zircon missiles in the Barents Sea, hitting a target 620 miles away in the White Sea, the government said. Kremlin.

Putin could hardly contain his joy at announcing the news last week when he said: “I am sure that such powerful weapons will make it possible to reliably protect Russia from possible external threats and will help to ensure the national interests of our country.”

The president proudly said that it was an “important, if not momentous event,” as the ship sailed in a task force from Severomorsk.

After more than 10 months of fighting, Russia has faced a series of humiliating setbacks on the ground in Ukraine.

The Russian military high command has come under particular criticism in recent days following a New Year attack by Ukrainian forces in which Moscow said 89 of its soldiers were killed.

Putin said last week: “The Admiral Gorshkov frigate embarks on a long sea voyage. There’s nothing unusual here – it’s commonplace, but this time the ship is equipped with the latest Zircon hypersonic rocket system, which is second to none.

Putin said the Zircon missiles were “capable of outperforming any modern or future air defense.”

“I am sure that such a powerful weapon will allow us to reliably protect Russia from possible external threats and help ensure the national interests of our country.”

Putin insisted: ‘I want to emphasize that we will continue to develop the combat capabilities of the armed forces and produce promising weapons. I would like to wish the ship’s crew every success in their service for the good of the Motherland.

And he added: ‘I am very happy. My congratulations. This is a very big collective work that ended with a good result as expected. Start your task.

Moscow has previously boasted that Gorshkov is “the most dangerous enemy of surface ships in the world’s oceans,” now armed with the new hypersonic missile.

It also carries state-of-the-art Kalibr missiles, used against Ukraine, in its arsenal.

The frigate’s captain, Igor Krokhmal, previously said: ‘No one will see the launch of the missile or its flight.

‘They will only see when the missile hits the target.

One surface target, one coastal target. I don’t think there will be anything to counteract this in the next few years.
